First impressions
The front yard / entrance
- Mow your lawns, remove any weeds & dying plants
- Clean and fix front door, paint if necessary
- Clean walls, remove any water stains
- Sweep and clear pathways to the property
- Invest in a good quality welcome mat at front door
Interior living areas
- Clean and wash walls and ceilings
- Re-paint if necessary, in a fresh neutral colour
- Find a focus for your room, ie: a fireplace
- Paint a feature wall in a light colour
- Ensure floors are clean and unmarked
- Any fixed appliances ensure they are clean & work
- Unclutter all bench tops & rooms from personal items
- Ensure bench tops are in a good condition
- Replace broken doors & handles on cupboards / draws
The backyard
- Mow your lawns, remove any weeds & dying plants
- Clean walls, remove any water stains
- Sweep and clear paved / cement areas
- Repair and clean fences
The Bedrooms
- Small bedrooms minimise furniture, room appears bigger
- Paint walls and ceiling if necessary
- Consider adding built in wardrobes if necessary
- Have fresh bed linen
- Un-clutter the bedrooms from personal items
The wet areas, bathrooms and laundry
- Remove mould from tiles, mirrors, glass and curtains
- Replace any broken tiles, shower, curtains or doors
- Replace vanity / basin / cupboards if old and broken
- Replace damaged and marked mirrors
- Ensure toilet is in good condition, replace broken seats
- Ensure all wet areas are clean & fresh, free from smells
Finishing touches
- Ensure all areas are dusted and vacumed
- Clean windows, inside and out
- Clean windows fittings & repair if required
- Remove any cobwebs
